So I guess I should explain the previous post a little better. In 2004 a friend, Josh, showed me his dad's 67 Mustang out at his dad's place in Bensen, NC. The car was in great shape.
He said it had been his dad's high school car and that Josh and his dad had worked on it a bunch to get it ready for Josh to have as his own. I couldn't believe that such a gem of a car was sitting out under a shelter when Josh could be driving it around town. I asked him what was left? Why didn't he have it at home?
Brakes and a new carburator was his reply! Brakes and new CARB!!
I couldn't believe the car had been sitting for 4 years waiting for brakes and a carb. So thinking I could jumpstart the project I boasted, "I bet I'm going to get my VW Manx up and running before you can get this thing going." Understand that my Manx was in pieces in the woods at my dad's house.
Well, telling Josh that "he can't" is like pouring nitrous down his viens. Year after year I kept bringing it up, how the Mustang was just sitting and I'd be driving the Manx soon. Well after about 3 more years of me telling this to everyone I could, he bit. He finally brought up the bet and we starting talking about it more. This year he supprised me with his blog showing that he was working on the Mustang again.
The trouble is, I really do think I can get my Manx restored before he can do the same with his Mustang.
This blog will chronicle my progress restoring the Manx. Wish me luck.
